The Importance of Linking Communication and Action
E-waste refers to broken or disused electronics, such as phones or computers. When introducing a landfill ban on such items, a collaborative investigation conducted by the local government and partners, looked to understand why home owners and Small to Medium Enterprises may not recycle electronics at local transfer stations in the region. Findings showed it was a simple lack of understanding surrounding what ‘e-waste’ meant and where items could be handed in.
A campaign was then launched to educate on e-waste recycling, whilst simultaneously improving the relevant infrastructure.
